When God gave me Woman Evolve, I was clear about one thing -- I wanted the women who trusted my voice to ultimately surrender to God’s. I wanted for each of you to understand that there is no life stage or season that could overturn God’s decision about you. And ultimately, that His decision is and will always be to partner with you in creating a life that points back to His goodness, and for His glory. I realize that in the coming, going, doing and being, that sometimes that ultimate place feels hard. It can get messy and painful. It can feel like the directional compass keeps shifting. And while I don’t always understand the why, I do understand that when surrendered, the shifts and dips can be redeemed. And the details of how it happens is really where God does His best work.
As we wind down and look back at another year, I hope that with everything that has changed for you this year, and especially the things that haven’t, that you see it all through the lens of divine journeying. As you surrender to the ultimate creativity of heaven, I hope you come to know that nothing is wasted. Not the slow seasons. Not the hard ones. Not the strain. Nor the joy. I don’t believe in sanitizing the real stuff and making it seem like it the feelings aren’t real. They are. I still feel them too. But I trust that as I trust the promises of God, I won’t be left out here alone. That’s His Word.
That said, ending this year with a reflective life story is something that I hope reignites our ability to see the possibilities no matter what stage we find ourselves in. This particular journey - the one chosen for our December read - is one that lights me up. I’m excited just thinking about it.
Tabitha Brown. THEE Tabitha Brown. This woman is the kind of gem that we don’t often “see” in mainstream pop culture. Her story is one that inspires me anew every time, because it is one of the greatest displays of grace, favor and ordered steps that we’ve seen in our social history. I can’t imagine that anyone hasn’t met “Auntie Tab” in these online streets, but if you haven’t, let me give you the quick rundown: Tab is one of our internet aunties who - in the last three years - we’ve watched build an empire. Yes, she’s one of our fave vegans, and we love her review videos, but more than that, she’s created a little corner of the internet that feels warm…like a deep embrace from someone who sees you and makes you feel it’s all going to be ok..she makes you feel like, with her, you’re home. I’ll hold the details of how she got here because, well, we’ll read them together.
Girl, we’re here, ok?! That alone is worthy of celebration. And I hope that as you reflect on 2023 and all that lies ahead for your next chapter, that you’ll be encouraged by the possibilities and carve out space for hope -- the hope that will nudge your forward into the perfect will of God for your life.
