Resource Kit

I love the concept of imagination. The word itself is pretty dope too. Its origin literally means ‘to picture oneself’, and I appreciate the possibility encouraged in that. I love that it offers expansive, large white space that allows our unique vision to create and color in the lines, influenced by the things we’ve seen and those we haven’t yet. It’s a brilliant wonder of our creation and such a beautiful reminder of how God was really in His bag when he made us. Whew!

Imagination gets even more fun when we get to use it in the space of stories. By now, you may know that WE love a novel around here, and it gets so interesting to see how revelation and imagination create such a beautiful moment in our minds. God breathes through characters and places that never actually existed and touches us in real ways that do. It’s a delight to experience the witness of His word like this and it’s why our fiction reads feel like such treats. And this month? Oooh, we’ve got a good one.

The Undoing of Saint Silvanus has been on my to-read list for awhile because truly, its author is one of the best there is hands down. Beth Moore is legendary. She teaches the Bible, studies it, helps us understand it and speaks with such courageous boldness that she empowers all in her company. I know she makes God proud with her life and ministry.

Her first fiction book is one that is going to take us into hidden and new spaces, give us space to see life through the lens of characters we’ve never imagined and help us extend grace for them and their stories. The plot is thick (thus the size of the book, but don’t come for me!) but it’s going to keep us on our toes and hopefully, engage our minds and spirits. I hope you’ll tuck away in your quiet corners, on the beach, during your road trips and all your other summer spaces to enjoy the adventure with me, Beth, and all those we’ll meet along the way.

Let’s enjoy imagination with all that it affords us -- space to see ourselves and the world in new ways, and an experience with God that makes the world a bit more colorful.

To the unknown and the unseen, and all the wonder that awaits us there,
