A NOTE FROM SJR
And just like that, we meet another fall. We’re back in routine and head on with the rigor. The summer offered us space, and now we recenter to the areas that call us into more structure, faster mornings, and a pace that moves us from ease to GO. And while I know that our lives and fall seasons might look quite different across our community, I think we can all relate to the truth that we’re collectively in a time and space that is challenging us to choose how we show up and who we want to be. The world is so many things right now. There are so many voices clamoring and even more opportunities to try and find where we belong in it all. Who are we when it seems the world is divided and the very things that kept us anchored feel shaken on their own? How do we show up considering what we know and believe about our own selves?
I don’t have the answers for it all, but I do know that God has carved a lane specific to each of us and we can’t afford to lose footing because of debates, comment sections and mass division.
To walk surely in a world that feels uncertain, we must be anchored in the One who called us His, AND we must know who he’s called us to be. That knowing doesn’t happen without work, and this month, we’re going to do just that.
Why Am I Like This is more than a question we’ve often posed at the height of assessing our own choices, but it’s the title of our book this month, and it is the beautiful work of Kobe Campbell; author, therapist and speaker. Kobe has designed a beautiful tool that welcomes us into self-exploration and holy surrender. This book will allow us to walk through the tender space of our stories and our faith, and give us the insight and tools to acknowledge and heal, and be sure.
Sis, we don’t have to live in the story of our pain. We can be free. We can both hold space for what formed us and welcome the promise of new mornings, and new mercy.
Life is an incredible teacher and the author of it is the ultimate instructor. I pray we’ll sit at His feet and learn our lessons well…together.
Always with and for you,
