My dearest ones:

Witnessing an evolutionary journey has to be one of the deepest, most transformative  human experiences. Perhaps you’ve watched it happen personally--raising children who like mine, at once fit snugly in the cradle of your arm and now tower at or above you; or watching how the streets you’ve always known as quiet grow and expand as new life and energy change the once calm roads that led you home. The growth process seems to happen in a slow swell that culminates into something that imprints your personal history and marks your legacy. This is why I love learning about your stories. From the places you’ve gone and left, to new ones you’ve discovered..and the ‘who’ you’ve found as you’ve journeyed. The stories of our lives are precious and tender and in ways like no other - give us an earthly glimpse of the intentionality of God. I hope you know and savor that well.

So this month, to experience the story of a woman of our time with a name and presence that sparkles -- it’s a treat. Elaine Welteroth - our author and woman of the month -  is that one. She’s as astoundingly brilliant as she is graciously gorgeous. As a groundbreaking influencer in media and the second Black woman named editor-in-chief in Conde Nast's history, she’s learned a thing or ten about growing into purpose on purpose. Her story isn’t about success alone, but the journey of how that success has been defined, deconstructed, and created again. Now, as a wife, mother and founder of a new venture, Elaine is walking the path set before her boldly, confidently and with a faith that won’t waver.

I hope we’ll read her story with purpose in view, possibilities in mind, and respect for a journey that will inspire our own.
